What to say?
Like so many, I have been watching with sadness and horror the news out of Japan. The pictures and video are stunning in the truest sense of the word.
We’ve been watching video recorded while the earthquake was happening, seeing the shock and fear of people struggling to survive. Trying to imagine – and failing – what it felt like to be there when the black walls of water crashed through and destroyed entire towns.
Photos have captured the moments of loss, grief, devastation, utter bewilderment. And the occasional moments of joy when people are reunited or rescued from the nightmare.
The threat of nuclear explosion and radiation contamination remains. The number of people lost continues to climb.
The earthquake has caused the earth to shift its axis. In so many ways.
Everything else pales. A lesson in perspective.
